Here is love vast as the ocean
Here is love, vast as the ocean,
loving kindness as the flood,
when the Prince of Life, our Ransom,
shed for us His precious blood.
Who His love will not remember?
Who can cease to sing His praise?
He can never be forgotten,
throughout heaven’s eternal days.
On the mount of crucifixion,
fountains opened deep and wide;
through the floodgates of God’s mercy
flowed a vast and gracious tide.
Grace and love, like mighty rivers,
poured incessant from above,
and heaven’s peace and perfect justice
kissed a guilty world in love.
Let us all Your love accepting,
love You, ever all our days;
let us seek Your kingdom only
and our lives be to Your praise;
You alone shall be our glory,
nothing in the world we see.
You have cleansed and sanctified us,
You alone have set us free.
Millions since in earth and heaven
drawing near the eternal throne;
called from every tribe and nation
one exalted Saviour own.
In that crowded congregation
I, astonished, take my place,
cleansed and healed and, by adoption,
made a child of God by grace.
